Russia calls for immediate ceasefire in Gaza

MOSCOW, July 31 (KUNA) -- Russia has called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian movement Hamas, and strongly condemned the Israeli bombardment of a UN school in Gaza.
Russia's Foreign Ministry also urged the importance of putting an end to bloodshed and the suffering of civilians.
The ceasefire would be a base for later agreements aiming to ensure that this conflict is not repeated, for appropriate living conditions to be created in Gaza and for Israel's security to be guaranteed, said a ministry statement.
The statement also noted to figures suggesting that most of the people included in Israel's death toll are from the military, while those from Gaza are mostly civilians.
Israeli airstrikes that shook a school administered by UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA in Gaza, which killed 19 people, including women and children, and led to the injury of 90 others early on Wednesday were fiercely condemned.
The ministry also warned that if an immediate ceasefire is not reached, the conflict could become the most bloody in the history of the struggle between the Israelis and Palestinians. (end) as.sd
