Pakistan celebrates Eid Al-Fitr on Tuesday

ISLAMABAD, July 28 (KUNA) -- The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced that Eid Al-Fitr would be celebrated tomorrow across Pakistan as the crescent has been sighted on Monday evening.
The meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has been held in Karachi for sighting the Shawwal crescent while the provincial committees held meetings at their respective locations.
Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, the Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee presided over the meeting and meteorological departments with other concerned departments provided technical assistance. Rehman said the confirmations of moon sighting were received from many parts of the country.
Muslims celebrate Eid Al Fitr across the world on 1st Shawwal by sighting Shawwal crescent. However, Afghanistan and the northern Pakistani tribal areas bordering Afghanistan including North Waziristan celebrated Eid Al-Fitr on Monday. Like Arab and other Islamic countries, the religious festival of Eid Al-Fitr was celebrated across Afghanistan with religious fervor and zeal.
The festival marked the end of holy month of Ramadhan and special prayers for peace were offered in mosques and Eidgahs. The President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai offered Eid prayers at a mosque in the Presidential Palace along with Cabinet ministers and parliamentarians. (end) sbk.gb
