Egypt strongly condemns Erodgan's statement against Al-Sisi

CAIRO, July 26 (KUNA) -- Egypt has strongly condemned statement by Turkey's Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan who slammed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and called him as "illegitimate tyrant." Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Saturday that this description falsely reflects the reality of politics in Egypt. Erodogan's statement is an unacceptable interference in internal matters. The Turkish Prime Minister also slammed Egypt's efforts to mediate a ceasefire to end the conflict in Gaza between Israel and Islamist Hamas. Egypt strongly rejected this unjust statement; especially since Egypt has been supportive of the Palestinian cause for years.
Egypt has given many chances to Turkey to boost bilateral ties; however, these disruptive statements would lead to demoting these political ties.
As a result of such statements, Egypt has considered the Turkish Ambassador as a persona non grata and was downgraded him to charge d'affaires. (end) asm.nfm
