Al-Awdah, one of two Kuwaiti Gitmo detainees, soon to be repatriated home

KUWAIT, July 25 (KUNA) -- The US Department of Defense has released an order for the repatriation of Fouzi Al-Awdah, who is one of two Kuwaitis jailed in Guantanamo prison, while Fayez Al-Kanderi will remain behind bars, according to a source.
"The decision is the result of the huge continuing efforts carried out by Kuwait, under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah," the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry source said.
Expressing delight at the breakthrough, the source said that preparations are underway for Al-Awda's repatriation, expected to take a few weeks.
These efforts will continue with Washington, with the same force, for the repatriation of his compatriot Fayez Al-Kanderi in the quickest time possible, added the source.
The family of Fouzi Al-Awdah was congratulated by the source, who expressed gratitude for the cooperation of the United States government and hoped this cooperation would continue until the release Al-Kanderi. (end) maa.sd
