Ban urges solution to Iraqi problems as per constitution

IRBIL, July 24 (KUNA) -- Visiting UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called here on Thursday on all Iraqi political leaders to find a solution to their country's current problems and issues according to the constitution.
Speaking at a joint news conference with President of Iraqi Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani, Ban said problems between Baghdad and Irbil should be resolved soon and a genuine partnership has to be created instead.
He added that the UN supports all efforts to restore security and stability in Iraq, voicing hope that a new government would be created soon.
The UN chief express much concern over the displacement of more than one million Iraqi people due to insecurity, thanking the government of Kurdistan for hosting refugees from other Iraqi cities.
On his part, the president of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region regarded the UN chief's visit to Kurdistan as a good opportunity for Iraqi parties to resolve their problems. (pickup previous) sbr.mt
