CAIRO, July 17 (KUNA) -- Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) President and Kuwaiti Speaker of the House Marzouq Al-Ghanim urged on Thursday seeking realistic solutions to the Israeli military attacks on Gaza, through intensive diplomacy actuated by world governments and parliaments.
In a statement to KUNA at the conclusion of an AIPU meeting here, he said the AIPU would send written messages to the parliaments of the nations with permanent representation on the UN Security Council to exert pressure on their governments to come up with an immediate UN resolution binding Israel to cease its military operations and, at the same time, protect the Palestinian civilians from harm caused by Israeli bombs and air raids.
He further said that the AIPU and the Palestinian parliament were on the same page regarding propagation of what is currently going on in Gaza to the rest of the world.
Al-Ghanim moreover appealed to the world community to extend moral and material help to the Palestinian people who are taking it hard on the chin from the Israeli war machine.
He thanked Egypt for opening the crossroads at Rafah to allow entry of humanitarian relief aid to the people of Gaza, hoping meanwhile success for the recently-announced Egyptian initiative to cease all hostilities in Gaza. (end) msh.ajs
