OIC cmte seeks to designate Israeli radical groups as terrorist

JEDDAH, July 10 (KUNA) -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Executive Committee on Thursday called on the Palestinian State to complete procedures for joining organizations and international treaties, particularly the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Palestine's ICC membership is crucial for prosecuting Israeli officials for their crimes against the Palestinian people, according to a statement issued by the committee following its extraordinary meeting, held at the foreign ministers level.
The committee also called for designating the Jewish extremist groups Price Tag, and Hilltop Youth as terrorist groups in all countries and civil society organizations.
The committee stressed the need to document all these crimes committed in Palestinian territories and bring them to international criminal justice and forums, condemning in the same context, Israeli raids as "brutal" during ongoing operations in Gaza Strip which resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries among Palestinian civilians.
The committee also appealed to the international community and in particular the Security Council to bear responsibility in maintaining international peace and security and to take all necessary measures to put an end to Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people and to ensure Israel's compliance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and international law.
The committee stressed in this regard on the need to hold a UN Security Council emergency session and discuss Israel's violations and the ongoing aggressions against the Palestinian people and put an end to this aggression and to provide protection for the Palestinian people.
Meanwhile, OIC ambassadors in Geneva called to convene an emergency session of the UN Human Rights Council to form an international commission to investigate crimes and Israel's violations of human rights and ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.
The ambassadors also called on OIC Secretary General Iyad Madani to coordinate efforts with the summit chief, the Council of Foreign Ministers, and Palestine, and Jerusalem Committee president to begin their contact with international parties, including working to stop Israeli attacks and the transfer of the organization's mission on the status of the city of Jerusalem.
The Executive Committee consists of the Islamic Summit troika, Egypt, Senegal, and Turkey, the Council of Foreign Ministers troika, Saudi Arabia, Guinea and Kuwait, and OIC Secretary General. (end) nh.mb
