LONDON, July 6 (KUNA) -- Head of the Kuwaiti Cultural Office in the United Kingdom Dr. Mohammad Al-Hajeri has urged Kuwaiti students who have been accepted by UK universities to sit for the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam ahead of applying for an educational visa.
Explaining terms set by the UK immigration authorities, Al-Hajeri told KUNA an applicant for a student visa must score 5.5 marks in all tests. Universities in the UK, he explained further, require marks ranging between six and 6.5 in all specialties and seven for medicine.
As to students who have not made it in the IELTS tests at home, the office will help in registering them at the top institutes in Britain to try pass the exam again. Students are free to choose the institute but they must register hurriedly.
Seats at the British medicine universities are limited for the Kuwaiti students, Al-Hajeri said. Each university offers three-four seats, with priority for those of highest high-school grades, not the IELTS marks, he explained further.
The office can be contacted via its special website that also provides various information, useful for the Kuwaiti students. (end) kd.rk
