KUWAIT, July 5 (KUNA) -- The Public Authority for Youth and Sports (PAYS) is following up the construction of new sports facilities that would serve the youth of this country, said an official here Saturday.
Speaking to KUNA, Deputy Director of PAYS and former Kuwaiti Footballer Jassem Al-Huwaidi told KUNA that the new facilities such as the Bowling club in Salmiya area and Sa'ad Al-Abdullah multi-purpose sports hall in Sabah Al-Salem will provide better venues for Kuwaiti youth to observe and participate in their favorite sports.
The Bowling Club, said Al-Huwaidi, will be the largest of its kind in the Middle East with the main bowling hall providing 58 lanes for this sport's enthusiasts. He indicated that a hotel, a gym, and a 1,000 capacity parking lot will be built alongside the club, hoping that such high tech facility will help boost the status of bowling in Kuwait.
In regards to Sa'ad Al-Abdullah hall, the official said that the hall will include courts for the sports of handball, basketball, and volleyball. The facility will also provide hotel services and will also include the main headquarters for the basketball and volleyball federations, said Al-Huwaidi.
Al-Huwaidi also said that PAYS will embark on a new step in providing maintenance for current sports facilities in the country. (end) ha.gta
