Qatari Emir plans honoring of Algerian soccer team

ALGIERS, July 3 (KUNA) -- The Algerian Football Association has received an invitation from Qatari Emir Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa to honor the national soccer team for their competitive performance at at the World Cup games.
The team will fly to Qatar later today to attend the honoring ceremony sponsored by the Emir, said a sports source here.
The Algerian team was given a hero's welcome upon their return home.
The Algerians had taken part in the Brazil-hosted games but lost in the encounter with the Germans, 2-1, thus failing to qualify for the quarter finals. (end) ft.rk
