Bosnia's Mufti urges Muslims to stop fighting during Ramadan

SARAJEVO, June 28 (KUNA) -- The Mufti of Bosnia-Herzegovina Husein Kavazovic called on all Muslims around the globe Saturday to stop fighting among each other during the holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking to KUNA on the occasion of Ramadan, which began today in all Balkan countries, Kavazovic said Muslims worldwide should stop violence and bloodshed during the holy month.
"Muslims should seize the opportunity of Ramadan to devote themselves to worshipping and clearing their hearts from hatred," he said.
"How can a fasting Muslim kills his fasting Muslim brother?" asked the Mufti.
Fasting does not only mean refraining from eating or drinking, said Kavazovic, but to seek forgiveness and be closer to Allah. "How come that Muslims talk about dialogue, forgiveness and communicaiton with other religions and they are not communicating nor forgiving themselves?" he wondered. (end) aa.bs
