Algeria, Egypt leaders mull security, political, economic issues

ALGIERS, June 25 (KUNA) -- Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika met here on Wednesday his visiting Egyptian counterpart Abdelfattah Al-Sisi and discussed several security, political and economic issues.
The meeting was attended by the Speaker of the Council of the Nation (Upper House of Parliament) Abdelkader Bensalah, Prime Minister Abdelamelk Sellal and Energy Minister Youcef Yousfi.
Speaking to reporters following the meeting, Al-Sisi said he had discussed with the Algerian president political, economic and security affairs.
He said he was here to unify positions with Algeria over regional strategic issues, adding "Egypt and Algeria have many issues and strategic relations that require deep consultations".
He added that they had also discussed trade and energy cooperation between the two Arab countries.
The Egyptian president arrived in Algiers for a brief working visit at the invitation of President Bouteflika.
Upon his arrival, Al-Sisi said in a statement to the press that his visit aims at "reaching a real understanding and a joint vision of the common interests and the challenges at the bilateral and regional levels". (pickup previous) ft.mt
