Blast in S. Afghanistan kills 4 people including police chief

ISLAMABAD, June 5 (KUNA) -- At least four people were killed including the Waghaz district police chief in a bomb blast in southern Ghazni province of Afghanistan on Thursday, said officials.
The governor's spokesman of the Ghazni province, Mohammad Shafiq Nang in a statement said that the incident took place in the Syedwalo locality of the district, leaving Qasim Khan, the district police chief and three other police officers dead and another injured.
District Administrative Chief Mohamad Azam confirming the incident told that it took place while police officers were defusing the bomb planted on a road. He further said that the injured police official has been shifted to hospital for treatment.
The attack came few days before the runoff presidential election across Afghanistan announced to be held on June 14 to choose a successor to the President Karzai.
The militants have paced up their activities as United States President; Barack Obama announced the complete withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan by the end of 2016. (end) sbk.tg
