GENEVA, May 24 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti Health Ministry's participation at the World Health Organization's (WHO) Assembly was unique and their inputs were appreciated, The State of Kuwait Permanent Delegate at the United Nations Office in Geneva Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghunaim said here Saturday.
Speaking to KUNA, Al-Ghunaim congratulated Health Minister Dr. Ali Al-Obaibi for the delegation's vital inputs during the 67th World Health Assembly, noting that they have highlighted health issues connected to the GCC and the Arab world.
Al-Ghunaim's shared concerns with WHO leadership, especially Director General Margaret Chan, on health threats facing the world and reflected Kuwait's deep involvement in the fight against all kinds of illnesses, diseases, and disorders.
The World Health Assembly, heldon May 19-24, focused on issues such as climate change, drug resistance, essential medicines, health technology, hepatitis, international health regulations, newborn health, non-communicable diseases, obesity, social determinants of health, tuberculosis, and violence.
