KUWAIT, April 24 (KUNA) -- Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah on Thursday called on secondary students to choose scientific specialties at the university as the country is set to carry out major development projects.
Addressing a future youth guidance forum held here today under the aegis of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the minister said the government supports and spurs young people's employment in the private sector, noting that the workforce of the public sector makes up 94 percent of the country's manpower.
He said it is important for students to choose whatever specialty they want in order to be able to achieve success and excellence in their future careers.
However, the minister reiterated the government's commitment to providing young people with jobs in both public and private sectors.
As the development process in the country is going on at a fast pace, Kuwaiti young people need to exert more efforts in all fields.
On his part, Minister of Health Ali Al-Obeidi said six specialized hospitals would join the country's health sector in five years' time.
Therefore, Kuwaiti secondary students should choose scientific and medical specialties in order to make up for shortage of staff in relevant sectors, the minister said. (end) fsa.fs.mt
