Violence in S. Pakistan claims 5 lives

ISLAMABAD, April 23 (KUNA) -- At least five people were killed in separate incidents of violence in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi on Wednesday, said officials.
According to police, two bodies were recovered in Mewashah Graveyard near Malang Darbar area, whereas another body was discovered from a river below the Lasbela Bridge of the metropolitan. All three were first kidnapped and later tortured but none of the bodies have been identified yet, said police.
In a separate incident, unknown assailants gunned down a person in Manghopir's Mianwali Colony of the city. A body of a woman bearing torture marks was also found in a gunnysack in North Karachi's Rashidabad area.
Pakistan Rangers is carrying a targeted operation under a directive issued by the federal government in cooperation with police in Karachi that is riddled with targeted killings, gang wars, and kidnappings for ransom, extortion and sectarian violence. (end) sbk.hb
