CAIRO, April 22 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker and President of the Arab Parliamentary Union (APU) Marzouq Al-Ghanim discussed here Tuesday with the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Dr. Nabil Al-Araby the latest Arab developments.
Al-Ghanim told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the meeting "was positive", where both sides agreed to continue coordination, cooperation and consultation in the future between the APU, Arab League and the Arab Parliament, stressing that the three entities are working for a one common goal.
He stressed significance of Arab coordination to serve "our common issues", noting that his meeting with Al-Araby "was part of this attempt to reunite and deliver our views to the influential parties in the world about all issues." He added that the meeting also discussed the development of the Arab Parliament, indicating that there is an agreement to activate its role similar to that of the European Parliament.
Al-Ghanim also expressed to the Arab League Chief his determination and sincere desire to activate the role of the Arab Parliament.
He praised Al-Araby's great and distinctive role and his participation in the previous summits which were held in Kuwait recently, saying that Al-Araby has been a factor of success of such summits.
Al-Araby for his part said the meeting with Al-Ghanim touched on various issues of concern to the Arab world.
He added that he agreed with the Kuwaiti parliamentarian on the need to continue consultations and coordinations between the Arab League and the APU for the sake of achieving ambitions of the Arab peoples. (end) ms.mab.tg
