KUWAIT, April 21 (KUNA) -- The cabinet has approved the lineup of the newly created Supreme Council of Governorates' Affairs including His Highness the Prime Minister as chairman and several cabinet ministers as members.
The makeup, which was granted during a routine cabinet meeting held at Seif Palace on Monday, comprises as members, apart from its secretary-general, the deputy premier and minister of interior, and ministers of health, education and higher education, public works, social affairs and labor, communications, of state for municipal affairs, Justice, Awqaf and Islamic affairs and of state for cabinet affairs.
The cabinet also reviewed a recommendation by the ministerial youth committee on the final report of the current sports situation in the country, involving suggestions targeting local sports development, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah said in a news statement following the meeting.
The ministers were then apprised of the committee's recommendation to spur young people to get involved in small and medium-sized enterprises, including executive procedures for launching a relevant national fund, he said.
The ministry of state for youth affairs, the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development, the ministry of commerce and industry and the national fund for supporting small and medium-sized enterprises to thrash out appropriate mechanisms to encourage young people to capitalize on the goals of the fund, he added.
Afterwards, the cabinet appreciated a public donation worth KD 1 million (USD 3.5 million) for an early breast cancer screening as a sign of deep-rooted solidarity and integration.
The ministers were briefed on a recent letter sent to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah from Tunisian Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa on the outcomes of the latter's recent visit to Kuwait.
They were also apprised of a letter recently sent to His Highness the Amir from Belgian Princess Astrid, Special Representative of the Roll Back Malaria Partnership (RBM), on anti-malaria efforts.
The cabinet then listened to a presentation from His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on the outcomes of a recent visit by Spanish King Juan Carlos, which reflected the willingness of both countries' leaders to develop and promote bilateral cooperative relations.
Finally, the ministers discussed issues to be considered during parliament sessions, together with reports on the latest Arab and international political situations. (end)
