Saudi university honors Kuwaiti scholar for academic achievements

RIYADH, April 20 (KUNA) -- the Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh will honor Monday Dr. Mohammad Al-Tabtabae of Kuwait in appreciation of his academic achievements.
The University will hold a ceremony under the auspices of the Governor of Riyadh Prince Khaled bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, a press statement said Sunday.
Dr. Al-Tabtabae, the man of the year, is the first Kuwaiti scholar to be honored by Saudi Arabia for his achievements in the Islamic Sharia domain.
Dr. Al-Tabtabae graduated from the Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in 1988. He completed his Masters from the same university in 1993 and obtained his PhD from the university's Surpeme Judicial Institute in 1996. He then became a member in the Scientific Research Center of the university.
Dr. Al-Tabtabae has written books and research papers in the Islamic Fiqh (jurisprudence) and Islamic financial transactions.
He is chairing the Fatwa (Islamic edict) committee in Kuwait. He also chairs the international conference on contemporary Islamic issues. (end) yms.bs
