KUWAIT, April 20 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Interior announced Sunday that the recent decision to deport an HIV-infected expat was taken in accordance to the enforced laws.
In press statement, the Ministry's Media Department stated that Immigration departments grant and renew visas for expats after they pass certain health and security checks as per regulations.
"The Ministry of Health's medical reports confirmed since September of 2013 that the patient has been infected with HIV virus," it said.
It underlined that that the Ministry had handled the issue of as per relevant security and health regulations.
The statement went on to say that "As a preventative measure, the law does not allow the (non-citizen HIV-infected) patients to stay in the country." "The visa of (concerned expat) was extended for three months to complete (leaving) procedures and he was put into medical quarantine to avoid deterioration of his health or the spread of the virus." "After completing all necessary procedures, he was deported in accordance with the country's security and health regulations."
