Regional Cyber Security Summit kicks off in Oman

MUSCAT, April 20 (KUNA) -- The Regional Cyber Security Summit III started here on Sunday, focusing on the protection of critical national information infrastructure.
The two-day event aims at connecting public, private and academic sectors with the main purpose of providing an appropriate platform for senior information and communication technology (ICT) and cyber security officials.
Organized by Information Technology Authority, the summit will also focus on directions and plans to tackle emerging threats to the global and regional Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) sector.
Addressing the summit, Chief Executive Officer of the Information Technology Authority Dr Salim bin Sultan Al-Ruzaiqi stressed the importance of choosing critical national information infrastructure protection as a main issue for the gathering in order to match global interest in this matter.
He also emphasized the role of cyber-security national centers in the region to develop plans and discuss solutions and experiences to strengthen the electronic security.
The conference is an important platform for the exchange of experiences and cooperation among the countries in the region to adopt an effective strategy to achieve electronic security and highlight the cyber-security institutions and infrastructure sectors of vital industries, he added. (end) ahr.ss
