Lebanese army arrests Syrian rebels

BEIRUT, April 19 (KUNA) -- The Lebanese Army arrested on Saturday a number of Syrian extremists while infiltrating into Lebanese territories in Bait Lahia in eastern Rashya area.
The army intelligence ambushed the rebels and arrested them, the Army Command said in a statement.
The Lebanese army made similar arrests in the past and stopped many Syrian fighters from entering the country, especially after the Syrian army took control of the strategic Qalamon forcing the rebels to flee to Lebanon.
Meanwhile, security reports from southern Lebanon said Israeli soldiers fired from a settlement near the borders toward Lebanese farmers.
Forces from the Lebanese army and UN Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL) rushed to the scene and were investigating the incident. (end) ayb.mb
