Arab Parliament Pres. welcomes "positive" GCC's Riyadh document

CAIRO, April 19 (KUNA) -- President of the Arab Parliament Ahmad Al-Jarwan Saturday welcomed the Gulf Cooperation Council's (GCC) Riyadh document as "positive," and affirmed the parliament was backing every efforts aimed at Arab unity.
Al-Jarwan, speaking to reporters on sidelines of an Arab Parliament's preliminary meeting at the Arab League's headquarters, said the GCC countries were capable of maintaining achievements and solid bonds among them within the framework of the Arab Gulf bloc.
The GCC Foreign Ministers affirmed, during a meeting in the Saudi capital on April 17, on the importance of implementing the Riyadh document based on principles of GCC Charter.
They said the Riyadh document was another milestone aimed at achieving aspirations of the GCC people to pave way for security and stability, and boosting GCC's capabilities to face future challenges.
The foreign ministers praised the role of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in concluding the Riyadh document.
Al-Jarwan, meanwhile, said today's meeting was to prepare for the Arab Parliament's meeting next Tuesday, which would be focusing on human rights in the Arab world.
The Members of Arab Parliament (MAPs) would discuss resolutions of last month's Arab summit that was held in Kuwait, he said.
Al-Jarwan said the Palestinian cause would top the agenda of the next session.
Speaker of the Kuwaiti Parliament Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanem is scheduled to take part in the meeting. (pickup previous) mfm.bs
