MGRP helps 1,450 laid-off workers

KUWAIT, April 19 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Manpower and Government Restructuring Program (MGRP) has helped provide new jobs for over 1,450 Kuwaitis who lost their jobs in the private sector after the global economic crisis in 2008.
In a press statement issued Saturday, Head of the MGRP's Public Relation and Media Affairs Department Abdulaziz Al-Qassar said that about 1,450 out of 2,320 nationals who were victims to the economic crisis have been re-employed by the MGRP.
Al-Qassar added that the MGRP will invite the remaining nationals, who belong to the same category, to its headquarters early Mary to offer them new job openings.
He reiterated the MGRP's commitment to financially support all nationals who lost their jobs because of the economic crisis and to help them find new jobs.
The MGRP has paid over KD 22.2 million in unemployment benefits for the affected nationals during the period extending from August 2009 till April 2014, Al-Qassar noted.
He pointed out that major world countries only pay unemployment benefits for a maximum period of six months, but Kuwait pay it for up to 36 months.
The Manpower and Government Restructuring Program (MGRP) is a Kuwaiti governmental organization under the Civil Service Commission. MGRP is specializes on training, finding jobs and encouraging Kuwaiti employees to work in the private sector. (end) mz.fs.ibi
