Policeman killed, another wounded in militant attack in N. Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, April 18 (KUNA) -- At least one security personnel was killed and another was injured as militants attacked a security forcesآ’ vehicle on Frontier road on the outskirts of Peshawar city in northern Pakistan, said officials.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police Fazle Wahid said in a statement that the convoy was attacked on Frontier road near Aziz Market.
The Station House Officer of Badbher Garanullah confirming the incident said that the security forces' convoy was attacked near Aziz Market and reportedly one security man was killed and two others were injured. Militants attacked them with heavy and light weapons, he added.
The security forces immediately cordoned off the area and launched a search operation for the culprits. A curfew has been imposed in the area for the last four days due to poor security situation.
In another incident of violence a series of explosions were heard near the weapons depot of the Frontier Corpsآ’ Khyber Rifles in the Khyber tribal region bordering Afghanistan, said local media reports. However, no casualties have so far been reported.
The attack came two days after the outlawed Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has announced not to extend the ceasefire with the government. (end) abk.mt
