US releases USD 450 million frozen funds to Iran

WASHINGTON, April 17 (KUNA) -- Following the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) confirmation that Iran has diluted 20 percent of its enriched uranium, the United States Treasury on Thursday released USD 450 million of frozen funds to the Islamic Republic.
According to the Joint Plan of Action - agreed to by Iran and the UN Security Council countries with Germany (P5+1) - half of the enriched uranium must be diluted, and the other half converted.
"All sides have kept the commitments made in the Joint Plan of Action, as Iran remains in line with its commitments under the JPOA," said State Department Deputy Spokesperson Marie Harf. "The United States and its P5 plus one partners and the European Union will continue to uphold our commitments as well."(end) ys
