BEIJING, April 17 (KUNA) -- Visiting Kuwait's Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, currently on a visit to China with company of officials, met on Thursday with Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao discussing means of boosting bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the two countries.
Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad indicated during the meeting, held at the people's grand hall in the Chinese capital, at His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's strategic perspective of transforming Kuwait into a regional hub for financial and commercial services. Moreover, he underscored harmony of this outlook with that of the Chinese president to re-establish "the silk road" in the 21st century.
His Highness the Amir's strategic approach intersects with a strategy, declared by Chinese President Xi Jinping, to set up "the economic belt," encompassing China, West Asia, Europe and Africa, with aim of trading benefits and boosting cooperation among nations in these regions and continents.
Separately, the Kuwaiti minister held talks with the head of the reforms committee of the Chinese Communist Party, dealing with means of enhancing the bilateral ties between the two friendly countries.
The two meetings were attended by Advisor at the Amiri Diwan Dr. Yusuf Al-Ibrahim, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development Dr. Adel Al-Wuggayan, the Assistant Secretary General Dr. Riad Al-Fars, and the Kuwaiti Ambassador to China, Mohammad Al-Thuwaikh. (end) abd.rk
