Iraqi commander, five officers killed in crash

BAGHDAD, April 15 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi Commander of operations in west Anbar and northern Mosul, and five senior officers were killed in a helicopter crash in the western Rawat district on Tuesday, a security source said.
Lieutenant General Hasan Al-Baidhani was killed after a military chopper crashed while landing in Rawat command, the source told KUNA, and attributed the crash to a technical failure.
The source added that five officers were also killed in the crash.
The Iraqi Ministry of Defense did not issue a statement on the crash, however, Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki mourned the demise of the officers. (end) mhg.mb
