KUWAIT, April 14 (KUNA) -- Jazeera Airways announced Monday it would begin serving Istanbul through the city's primary airport, Istanbul Ataturk Airport, with five flights a week starting from May 2nd instead of the Sabiha Gokcen International Airport, to which the airline has served since 2008.
Vice President of Industry Affairs Bader Al-Mershed said in a press statement that the new route would bolster the airline's Istanbul services by offering travelers with better flight schedules to an airport that is in the heart of the touristic city.
The airline will increase the number of incoming and outgoing flights to Ataturk Airport from three flights a week to five. The airline's new schedule serves Istanbul with a flight every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, he added.
"This is great news for travelers. Since we started serving Istanbul through Sabiha Gokcen International Airport in 2008, Istanbul has become a favorite vacation and business destination for travelers from Kuwait and the region," Al-Mershed pointed out.
According to data by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, passenger traffic between Kuwait and Istanbul has increased by 419% between 2008 and 2013. (end)
