GCC awqaf meeting aims to establish think-tank -- minister

KUWAIT, April 13 (KUNA) -- Minister of Justice and Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Dr. Nayef Al-Ajmi said Sunday upcoming GCC awqaf ministers' meeting is designed to establish a think-tank for promoting the endowment culture in the GCC.
The meeting, to be hosted by Kuwait on Wednesday, also aims to intensify joint efforts to hammer out a strategic plan for the GCC Islamic Affairs Ministries to bolster role of the endowment as a means of social solidarity and charity work in the GCC countries, Al-Ajmi said in press statement.
Future aspirations and the current events require GCC joint work to safeguard the Gulf identity and citizenship as well as to promote intellectual moderation, he added.
Al-Ajmi expressed gratitude to GCC awqaf ministers for their participation in the first such meeting to be held in Kuwait. (end) amn.nfa.ss
