Parl't Speaker holds "fruitful" talks with German counterpart

KUWAIT, April 9 (KUNA) -- Speaker of Kuwait's National Assembly Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim held talks here with President of German Bundestag (the parliament) Norbert Lammert over boosting bilateral ties and German's support to Arab causes.
"The meeting was fruitful," Al-Ghanim told KUNA Wednesday following his meeting with Lammert.
He stated that he has received positive responses from the German official over Kuwait's demands for supportive German stance towards Kuwaiti and Arab causes.
He pointed out that he has discussed with the German official parliamentary and economic cooperation and Germany's support to Kuwait's application for Schengen visa exemption for visa-free entrance to European Union countries.
Al-Ghanim also tackled the situation in Syria, developments in Iraq, events in Egypt, and the Palestinian problem.
For his part, President of German Parliament said that Germany is interested in developing relations with Kuwait on political and economic levels.
In statements to KUNA, Lammert applauded the remarkable progress of Kuwait's democracy. He noted that Kuwait could play an important role in spreading democracy in the region. (pickup previous) anj.mah.ibi
