MUSCAT, March 30 (KUNA) -- GCC Secretary General Abdullateef Al-Zayani
asserted Sunday GCC countries' keenness on improving Gulf industries through
adopting programs and strategic plans that would help enhance the industrial
sector.
Al-Zayani said in a statement, at the opening session of the 14th GCC
Industrialists Conference in Muscat, said that the GCC Industries' system is
based on integration and building modern Industrial areas that would support
giant development projects and faciliate exports.
"The Industries are also based on bolstering the private sector and speed
up implementations of GCC Customs Union, and principes of joint GCC markets,"
Al-Zayani added.
The Secretary General said the industry sector in GCC countries witnessed
in recent years progress and prosperity which enable it to become the basis of
achieving a comprehensive development.
Gulf industrial exports witnessed a huge leap reaching USD 256 billion in
2012, Al-Zayani said.
The official also called for more cooperation and joint coordination to
improve GCC industrial exports through opening new commercial shops and
develop advanced industry-related technologies. (pickup previous)
