KUWAIT, March 29 (KUNA) -- International Olympic Committee President Thomas
Bach said that his visit to Kuwait aimed at attending Association of National
Olympic Committee meetings was a chance to discuss the future of the Olympic
movement with national sports bodies.
Shortly after his arrival at Kuwait International Airport on Saturday
night, he told reporters that the IOC looks forward to these talks it regards
of "high interest" due to the attendance of such a large number of senior
national Olympic committee officials.
He added, "this will enhance the popularity of sports here (in Kuwait) and
it will also make the visitors more familiar about Kuwait as they will learn
more about Kuwaiti and Arab culture.
"And this is what it is all about - to know each other and to understand
each other. It is very important not only for Kuwait but for the whole Arab
region."
Bach went on to express his gratitude for ANOC President Sheikh Ahmad
