KUWAIT, March 27 (KUNA) -- Kuwait National Petroleum Co (KNPC) fiercely
rejected local reports of a quarrel, described as reaching the extent of a
"fistfight", between its employees at a meeting with a company in the UK,
which urged the building's security to intervene.
After investigations involving engineers, employees and security personnel
at the British engineering firm Foster Wheeler, based in Reading, "this news
was proven untrue," said KNPC in a statement to KUNA.
The remarks came after a local newspaper reported that the dispute over an
environmental fuel project worth around around KD 30-40 million (USD 110-130
million) occurred between senior employees at the offices of the Foster
Wheeler, attributing these reports to well informed sources.
"KNPC employees are doing their utmost in order for vital dynamic projects
to be a success in the quickest time possible and there is no proof that
security was summoned," said Deputy Chief Executive for Assisted Services and
spokesman Khaled Al-Asousi.
The statement went further to declare that "neither was it proved that
there was any dispute or a fistfight at the offices of KNPC in Kuwait."
"The team tasked by the company to conduct the environmental fuel project
is a carefully selected and experienced group of Kuwaiti specialists and
engineers. They work together in a spirit of teamwork and carry out their
duties in an able manner," added the statement. (end)
