KUWAIT, March 25 (KUNA) -- President of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces Ahmad Al-Jarba called on world powers to commit to resolutions and pledges they made to end the "vicious war" in Syria.
Al-Jabra emphasized in his speech at the 25th Arab Summit that "it is no longer acceptable for you (Arab leaders) to watch the situation of Syrians a moment longer" when tens and thousands of people in Syria are getting killed or forced to flee their homes. "Horrendous crimes are being committed against innocent people," he added.
"We raise the voices of our pain and of our hopes to demand that the major countries abide by their responsibilities and pledges, on basis of which we fought in the midst of the Geneva II negotiations, which Assad buried with the contents of Geneva I, giving with his allies, and with his nomination to an illegal presidential term." He pointed out that the opposition is looking for the best interest of Syrian and its people; hence, calling Arab and international bodies to honor their pledges in providing heavy weapons to the Syrian rebel fighters to battle the regime, to increase humanitarian aid in all its components to the Syrians inside and outside the country and to supervise the situations of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan and Turkey.
The Syrian refugees "are guests in these states and they should go back to their country when the current situation is over." He added that Syrian embassies in Arab capitals should be given to the National Coalition after the regime lost its legitimacy and nobody remained to take care of the Syrians' interests, making their conditions even worse.
"The National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces will safeguard the unity and the safety of all Syrians, including those in areas under the regime control ... we respect Syrians in those areas and protect their property in all circumstances," Al-Jabra said.
He concluded his speech by expressing appreciation to the State of Kuwait for hosting two donors' conference for the Syrians. (pickup previous) kt.nfm KUNA 251352 Mar 14NNNN
