KUWAIT, March 25 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary General Dr. Nabil Al-Araby
hailed here on Tuesday the effective and influential role played by His
Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in supporting the
joint Arab action and for Kuwait's hosting of the 3rd Arab-Africa Summit.
Al-Araby expressed, in his speech before the 25th Arab Summit currently
being held here, hope the logo of the summit 'Solidarity for a Better Future'
be implemented decisively on the ground in order to confront challenges facing
the joint Arab action.
Al-Araby added that some Arab disputes hamper reaching a comprehensive
solution to the Arab problems, saying that such disputes can be resolved
through inter-Arab cooperation.
He also pointed to the "winds of changes" currently taking place in some
Arab countries, saying they must be dealt with through a sincere will and
looking at the future.
On Palestine, Al-Araby said that the issue of Palestine is the Arabs' core
issue and that peace in the Middle East would never be achieved without a full
Israeli withdrawal from the Arab territories to the June, 1967 border line and
establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He also called on the disputing parties in Palestine to unite and end their
disputes for the best interest of the Palestinian people.
He added that the US efforts did not come out with tangible results due to
Israel's procrastination and its going ahead with building of more settlements
and judaizing of Al-Quds.
Al-Araby called for resorting to non-conventional methods to seek peace in
the region if Israel continued its practices and stubbornace.
He added that the US administration has admitted that Israel was
obstructing all peace efforts, saying that this would lead to its isolation.
Al-Araby urged the Arab states to continue their support of the
Palestinians and adhere to their commitments in this regard.
He also called for finding a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis,
pointing to the existence of more than 130,000 innocent victims, thousands of
wounded and missing, nine million homeless and refugees.
He said that the continuation of bloodsheds in Syria would undermine the
country's stability and security, adding that the United Nations Security
Council has not yet been able to issue a resolution for a ceasefire in Syria.
He also pointed to the procrastination of the Syrian delegation to attend
the formation of an independent body despite all efforts exerted in this
regard. (pick up previous)
