Al-Ghanim hopes His Highness the Amir repairs rift among GCC states

KUWAIT, March 5 (KUNA) -- Speaker of the Parliament Marzouq Al-Ghanim expressed his hope on Wednesday that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah would continue his efforts at ironing out the existing differences among members of the GCC, in the aftermath of Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Bahrain withdrawing their ambassadors from Qatar.
"I hope that His Highness the Amir is able as usual to bring closer differing points of view and smooth over this issue as soon as possible," said the Speaker, in a statement to the press, after the conclusion of a parliamentary session today.

Speaker Al-Ghanim said "The National Assembly follows with deep concern the ramifications of this issue which shows differing viewpoints regarding the course the GCC construct should take." He added "As peoples of the Gulf region, we did not want to hear of a rift (among GCC states) on the eve of the Arab summit which is scheduled to take place in Kuwait March 25-26," hoping nontheless that the summit might offer an apt opportunity to have this nagging issue put to rest.
He further said that "The Kuwaiti National Assembly wishes that this issue is not more than a passing summer cloud and that His Highness the Amir, with his customary wisdom and insightfulness, is able to repair the rift among the GCC states." (end) hrz.ajs KUNA 051644 Mar 14NNNN
