RIYADH, Feb 22 (KUNA) -- Bilateral relations bonding the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia with the State of Kuwait are currently at the top, affirmed the Kuwaiti
Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
The Kuwaiti-Saudi ties "are at the peak of development," said Sheikh Thamer
Jaber Al-Ahmad al-Sabah, in a statement to KUNA, on sidelines of a huge
reception, organized by the Kuwaiti diplomatic mission in the Kingdom, marking
Kuwait's 53rd anniversary of the National Day and the Liberation Day 23rd
Anniversary.
Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al-Ahmad, who led the Kuwaiti mission during the major
gathering that drew a large number of dignitaries, noted while addressing the
distinctive relations between the two GCC member states, Riyadh's brotherly
and sincere stance on Kuwait's side when it was targeted with the 1990
aggression by the former Iraqi regime.
The ambassador expressed congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh
Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf
Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber
Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and the Kuwaiti people on the national occasions.
Kuwait, while it celebrates today, the national ceremonies, recalls a
history of accomplishments and the people sacrifices for making a bright
future, said Sheikh Thamer on the fringes of the gathering, attended by top
figures, namely Riyadh Region Emir, Prince Khaled Bandar Bin Abdul-Aziz
Al-Saud. Also attending was a large number of Arab, foreign diplomats,
businessmen, media personnel and Kuwaiti citizens.
This large gathering signals the solid and family ties between the two
countries "that live as one people on a one land," the Ambassador Sheikh
Thamer Jaber Al-Ahmad stated.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait have been bonded "with
ties of blood and brotherhood.
"Words fail to express the closeness of these relations, between the two
leaderships, governments and peoples, and we beseech (HA) Allah to maintain
these bonds and protect the leaders, my master the Custodian of the Two Holy
Mosques and His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait."
Dya Eddin, the dean of the diplomatic corps and the ambassador of Djibouti
in Riyadh, praised the Kuwaiti leaders for maintaining balanced ties with
states of the world over the years and hailed the Kuwaiti's generous aid to
nations in need for assistance.
Oleg Ozerov, the Russian ambassador, lauded on the occasion the current
level of ties between Kuwait and Moscow affirming "these relations have been
rapidly improving."
For his part, the Chinese ambassador expressed pleasure for sharing the
Kuwaitis their joy on the national occasions and praised the Kuwaiti leaders
for adopting moderate and sagacious stances for sake of global peace and
stability. Such sentiments were also echoed by the British charge d'affaires
and attending American diplomats. (end)
