IRBIL, Feb 14 (KUNA) -- Iraqi government forces forces killed 10 members of
the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and arrested 37 others,
including six prominent ISIL leaders, in western Kirkuk on Friday.
The operation was carried out by the Dijla Operations Command, affiliated
with the Iraqi army, in the town of Sulaiman Bek in Salah Ad-Deen Province.
Commander of Dijla Operations Command Lt.-Gen. Staff Abdulameer Al-Zaidi
told reporters that the Iraqi forces were able to cleanse the town of Sulaiman
Bek from armed rebels, taking full control of the town, noting that forces are
currently defusing landmines, which were planted by the armed groups, in a
number of neighborhoods.
Al-Zaidi indicated that his forces will work on securing the return of
families that fled the area after being terrorized by ISIL criminals,
affirming at the same time that his command is to continue its operation to
overpower ISIL militants. (end)
