DUBAI, Feb 12 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Ministry of Commerce and Industry was
declared Wednesday the winner of the best mobile-government service in the
Arab region by the Government Summit which concluded in Dubai today.
In a big ceremony, the award was presented to Deputy Prime Minister and
Commerce and Industry Minister Dr. Abdulmuhsen Al-Madaj, the Ministry's
Undersecretary for Technical Assistance and Planning Fawaz Al-Shalal and Head
of the anti-commercial fraud Rashed Al-Hajeri.
"The Ministry has started providing mobile services to people and it plans
to continue and to expand the experiment to all its departments," Al-Madaj
told KUNA after receiving the award.
He pointed out that the mobile services have greatly helped people complete
their transactions in the least efforts and time.
Al-Madaj thanked the Ministry's talented staff who developed such technical
solutions and mobile services.
The "Best m-Government Service Award" is an annual award that stems
directly from the newly launched Mobile Government vision of His Highness
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and
Ruler of Dubai which aims to stimulate and encourage government entities to
provide creative and innovative solutions via smart phone applications and
mobile phones.
It will also ensure access to government services around the clock that are
easy, efficient and transparent to meet the public needs and exceed their
expectations.
The award is open for UAE Federal government entities and local government
entities in addition to governments from the Arab region and the World.
The m-Gov award focuses on any government service delivery solution
provided via your mobile phone using any of the following means: smart phone
applications, mobile web solutions and SMS solutions.
The Government Summit is a global platform dedicated to the improvement and
enhancement of government services and related opportunities. It is a forum
for the exchange of new and innovative thinking in the field of improving
citizen happiness, the future of government services and transformative
governments, that can adapt to the expectations of citizens across the globe.
The Summit strengthens international cooperation between public and private
sectors.
A total of 3500 personalities, including 60 international speakers from
high-level government officials and key decision-makers, from 60 countries are
attending the summit held during the period February 10-12. (end)
