KUWAIT, Jan 9 (KUNA) -- The British Ambassador to Kuwait Frank Baker
inaugurated Thursday evening a special gallery for the stamps issued to
celebrate the 1948 royal silver wedding of King George VI.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Assistant Secretary General of
the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters for Cultural Affairs Bader
Al-Duwaish and a number of Kuwaiti and British stamps collectors.
"The gallery is part of the activities of the 20th Qurain Cultural
Festival, which was launched Tuesday, and is held in cooperation with the
Kuwaiti society for stamp and currency collectors," Al-Duwaish told KUNA on
the sidelines of the ceremony.
"The event also aims to boost cultural cooperation between the two friendly
countries," he said.
Al-Duwaish pointed out that the displayed stamps, which include a
collection used in Kuwait to celebrate the same occasion, show the special
aspects of the royal marriage and the historic and special ties linking Kuwait
and Britain.
