DOHA, Jan 7 (KUNA) -- Qatar won the 8th West Asia Football Federation
(WAFF) Championship after defeating Jordan 2-0 on Tuesday.
In the final match, at the Al-Sadd Stadium, Qatar forward Boualem Khoukhi,
who had an exceptional tournament, scored both goals.
Jordan had started as the favorite, but Qatar gave them a sizzling time
before Khoukhi struck in the 51nd and 81st minutes to put it beyond their
reach.
WAFF President Prince Ali bin Al-Hussein awarded the winners in the
presence of AFC chief Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa and Qatar Football
Association President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmad Al-Thani.
Earlier, Bahrain defeated Kuwait 3-2 to finish third. (end)
