RIYADH, Dec 3 (KUNA) -- GCC Secretary General Abdullatif Al-Zayani on
Tuesday expressed confidence that the GCC summit due to be hosted by Kuwait
later this month would conclude with crucial resolutions in favor of
bolstering joint action at various levels.
In a statement to KUNA, Al-Zayani said the upcoming summit is quite
significant due to critical circumstances prevailing in the Gulf region and
major challenges that warrant continuous coordination among GCC countries.
Such cordial meetings grouping the GCC leaders are intended to serve their
peoples' interests and realize their aspirations.
The top leaders attach particular concern to GCC nationalization, security,
stability and economic integration, he added.
Kuwait will host the 34th GCC Summit on December 10 to 11. The top leaders
of the council member states will tackle several major and diverse issues of
common concern.
The GCC, established in the early 1980s, aims to deepen cooperation amongst
the six council member states; Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and
the United Arab Emirates. (end)
