Qatar declares new Corona case

DOHA, Nov 8 (KUNA) -- Qatar on Friday announced discovery of a new Corona virus-infected case saying a 48-year-old resident of the country was diagnosed with the flu symptoms.
Qatar's Supreme Council of Health (SCH) said in a statement the patient also suffers from various chronic diseases.
Medical tests were applied on persons who had close contact with the ill man and all results were negative.
The council also declared that a man, recently diagnosed with the same illness, recovered after receiving medical treatment.
Qatar had previously declared at least three Corona cases. The disease had been also reported in several regional countries.
Corona is also referred to as the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), which is viral respiratory illness first reported in Saudi Arabia in 2012. It is caused by a Coronavirus called MERS-CoV.
Most people who had been confirmed to have MERS-CoV infection developed severe acute respiratory illness. They had fever, cough, and shortness of breath. About half of these people died. (end) nnd.rk KUNA 082124 Nov 13NNNN
