ISLAMABAD, Nov 6 (KUNA) -- At least five Afghan National Army (ANA)
soldiers were killed in separate attacks by the rebels in different parts of
Afghanistan, said the Defence Ministry on Wednesday.
According to the ministry, four of the soldiers were killed and one wounded
during a bomb blast in the Khak-i-Sufaid district of western Farah Province of
Afghanistan. A senior Afghan police official said that a suicide bomber rammed
an explosive-laden vehicle into an Afghan security check post near the
Pakistan-Afghanistan border crossing at Chaman.
Another soldier was killed in a security incident in the Sangin district of
southern Helmand Province of Afghanistan, said the ministry. The relevant
statement added that several armed rebels were killed and weapons and
ammunition seized during separate operations in various parts of the country.
The Afghan security forces have taken control of security across the
country in June, as the foreign NATO/ISAF forces prepare to leave Afghanistan
by end of 2014. (end)
