VIENNA, Oct 26 (KUNA) -- Austria declared on Saturday offering euro 600,000
to Armenian Syrian refugees who fled the violence at home to Armenia.
Repercussions of the Syrian crisis have reached as far as Armenia, where
some 9,000 Syrians have taken up refuge, Austrian Foreign Minister Michael
Spindelegger said in a statement. Half of the Syrian refugees in Austria are
children suffering from malnutrition, he added.
Armenian Government has asked Austria to help it secure housing, in
addition to other forms of aid, for the Syrian Armenian families that fled
their country, Spindelegger added.
Austria has so far aided the Syrian refugees with a total of euro 7.4
million.
Number of Armenians in Syria was estimated at 100,000 at start of the
crisis. (end)
