BAGHDAD, Oct 26 (KUNA) -- Unknown gunmen stormed the house of a member of
Sahwa militia in south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad and shot him and six
members of the family dead.
A security source told KUNA the militants broke in the house early Saturday
and killed the whole family members, five men and two women, before leaving.
The prosecution launched an investigation into the incident.
Members of the government-backed Sunni militia are a target of
anti-government Sunni militias, namely Al-Qaeda group in Iraq.
Sahwa forces were formed at the height of Iraq's sectarian conflict in late
2006, when Sunni tribesmen joined forces with US troops in a clampdown on
Al-Qaeda.
But the tide is now turning back toward Al-Qaeda and anti-government groups
whose offensive against the government and its allies has killed more than 6,
000 people. (end)
