(With photos) TEHRAN, Sept 30 (KUNA) -- The general assembly members of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) re-elected Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah as president of the board of directors at the conclusion of their meeting, which was held in Tehran, Iran.
The meeting, held in Milad Tower last night, was attended by 22 Asian countries with the participation of ATF President Anil Khanna, Spanish International Tennis Federation Executive Vice President Juan Margets, Irish Director of Development for the International Tennis Federation Dave Miley, ATF member of board of directors and former President of Iran Tennis Federation Alizera Khorooshi.
In a statement to KUNA, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber praised the Asian participation at the general assembly meeting, stating that "the participation of 22 countries in the meeting reflected its significance." The organization was excellent as the Iranian federation played a major role in setting and organizing the assembly, he said, expressing his gratitude to the federation and the Iranian government.
He also expressed thanks to the general assembly for re-electing him chairman of the board of directors, wishing everyone the best of luck in elevating the sport of tennis throughout the Asian continent.
During the general assembly's meeting, Sheikh Ahmad said that the organization of the ATF meeting was one of the best to be organized so far in Asia.
He added "ATF puts its most significant interest in youngsters who represent the main base of tennis especially that Asia organizes a huge number of tournaments for all ages in order to develop and improve the skills of the athletes and to gain world ranking points." Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber thanked the former members of the board of directors for their exerted efforts, stressing that "the new assembly will do its best to elevate the role of tennis in Asia."
