Nine Iraqis killed, 42 injured in blasts in Iraq - source

BAGHDAD, Aug 24 (KUNA) -- Nine Iraqis were killed and 42 injured in a series of explosions in different parts of Iraq on Saturday, while police arrested a suicide attacker shortly before detonating explosives in an open air market.
An explosive device went off in southeast of Baghdad killing a civilian and injuring five others, a police source told KUNA.
Seven civilians were injured when a suicide attacker detonated his explosive belt near mourning house northern Babel, he added.
Two civilians were killed and nine injured in a car bomb attack in northern Babel as well.
Five people were killed and 17 wounded in a bomb explosion in Diyala governorate today.
Meanwhile, unknown gunmen shot dead a policeman and injured his brother in Al-Maqdadiya province.
On the other hand, three civilians including a woman were seriously injured in a bomb blast in Fallujah. (end) mhg.bs KUNA 242237 Aug 13NNNN
