UK''s Cameron, Hague send best wishes to Muslims for Eid Al-Fitr

LONDON, Aug 7 (KUNA) -- British Prime Minister David Cameron and Foreign Secretary William Hague on Wednesday congratulated the Muslims in the United Kingdom and around the globe on the Eid Al-Fitr.
"I send my warmest wishes to Muslims in the UK and overseas as they celebrate the festival of Eid Al-Fitr," Cameron said.
"After a month of longer summer days fasting, praying and putting aside many of the things that we can take for granted, Muslims will come together with friends and family to celebrate this joyous occasion. I wish you all Eid Mubarak," he said.
Earlier today the Prime Minister visited the Jamia Mosque in Manchester as Muslims in the UK prepare for Eid.
In a similar message, Foreign Secretary said: "It gives me great pleasure to send my best wishes to Muslims in the UK and across the world who are celebrating Eid Al-Fitr." "During the holy month of Ramadan, millions of people around the world have dedicated themselves to prayer, reflection, charity and spending time with loved ones," Hague said.
"Whether sharing an iftar meal with neighbours or giving their zakat to those in need, Muslims have shown the true spirit of Islam in many different ways.
"At this time, we all continue to hope for an end to violence in Syria and for peace in the Middle East. Let me wish you all a very happy and peaceful Eid. Eid Mubarak," he concluded. (end) mrn.gb KUNA 072231 Aug 13NNNN
